Hagåtña sits on Marine Corps Drive (Route 1), the spine road that runs from the northern plateau past Tamuning and the capital to the naval base at Apra Harbor. From the Tumon hotels you simply drop down to the coast and follow it west. Asan is a few minutes beyond the town and Piti a few minutes beyond that, all on the same road. Times below are typical in light traffic; allow more on weekday mornings and late afternoons, when commuters fill the road, and on Wednesday evenings around Chamorro Village.

Getting around Hagåtña & Central Guam
On foot: the centre of Hagåtña is small and flat. The Plaza de España, the cathedral, the Guam Museum, Skinner Plaza and Latte Stone Park are all within about ten minutes’ walk of one another, and Chamorro Village and Paseo de Susana are a short walk further across Marine Corps Drive — use the signalled crossings, as the road is wide and busy. Fort Santa Agueda is uphill and easier by car.
By car: a hire car is the practical way to link the town with Asan, Nimitz Hill and Piti. Parking is free and usually easy near the plaza, except on Wednesday evenings. Taxis are metered and comparatively expensive; arrange a return pick-up, as cabs do not cruise the streets here.
Shuttles: visitor shopping shuttles from Tumon have sometimes run to Hagåtña and to the Wednesday night market. Routes and timetables change, so ask your hotel what is operating during your stay.
