Managaha Island — A tiny sand cay in Saipan’s lagoon: a ten-minute boat ride to white beach, reef snorkelling and the grave of a Carolinian chief.

Getting to Managaha Island

A short boat ride across the lagoon from Garapan — there is no other way to arrive.

Managaha has no airstrip and no bridge. Boats leave from the Smiling Cove and Outer Cove marina beside American Memorial Park in Garapan, and some speedboat operators collect from hotel beaches along the west coast. The crossing takes about 10 to 15 minutes. Departure times, fares and the landing fee below are indications only and change — ask your hotel desk for the current details. For flights to Saipan and between the islands, see getting there; entry rules are in the travel guide.

Getting around Managaha Island

On foot: everything on Managaha is walked. A sandy path and the beach itself circle the island in 15 to 20 minutes, and the facilities, memorial and gun emplacements are all within a few minutes of the pier. There are no vehicles for visitors.

Boats back: return boats run through the day, and the last one usually leaves at about 16:00. Keep your ticket or wristband, note which operator you came with, and be at the pier in good time.

On the Saipan side: there is no public bus to the marina. Most package tickets include a hotel pick-up; otherwise take a taxi or drive — there is parking at American Memorial Park near the marina, though it fills on busy mornings. More on getting about is on the Garapan getting there page.
