We checked GetYourGuide’s partner feed in October 2026. It lists nothing for the northern islands or the Mariana Trench, and nothing anywhere in the Northern Mariana Islands; the platform’s twelve Marianas products are all on Guam. More to the point, there is no regular commercial tour to these islands from any seller. No day boats run north from Saipan, no scenic flights are scheduled, and nobody offers trips to the trench.
The people who do reach the islands go in one of a few ways. Private or chartered vessels occasionally make the voyage from Saipan, with permission from the Northern Islands Mayor’s Office and, for the waters around Uracas, Maug and Asuncion, under the rules of the federal agencies that manage the marine monument. Research and government voyages carry scientists and officials, not passengers. Expedition cruise ships crossing the western Pacific very occasionally include a landing at Pagan or a visit to Maug in an itinerary; such calls are rare, weather-dependent and sold by the cruise lines as part of long, costly voyages. Farallon de Medinilla is a military bombing range and is strictly off limits.
What you can do instead is worthwhile in its own right. Ask for a window seat on flights into and out of Saipan. Visit the exhibits at American Memorial Park and, if it is open, the NMI Museum in Garapan. Watch the dive footage recorded by NOAA’s research ship Okeanos Explorer in the monument, which is free online. And if you want something you can actually book in the Marianas, the listings are on Guam — in Tumon and under Hagåtña & central Guam. A few are shown below; the full list is on the tours page.
Bookable on GetYourGuide today: Guam
GetYourGuide currently lists nothing in the Northern Mariana Islands. If your trip also takes in Guam, 30–45 minutes away by air, these are real, bookable experiences there.
Hagåtña & Central Guam from €48 Dolphin Watching Cruise & Underwater Observatory
A boat trip along the coast to look for spinner and bottlenose dolphins, with the option of adding a visit to the Fish Eye underwater observatory. Dolphins are wild, so sightings cannot be guaranteed.
Hagåtña & Central Guam from €39 Eco Snorkelling in Piti Bay at Fish Eye Marine Park
A snorkelling tour of the Piti Bay Marine Preserve with a certified guide, swimming among reef fish and corals. A sensible choice if you are new to snorkelling.
Tumon & Tamuning from €78 Taotao Tasi Beachfront Cultural Show with Dinner Options
An open-air show on the beach mixing Pacific island dance, live music and fire performances, with show-only or dinner tickets.
Booking tips
- Be wary of anyone selling a “tour” to Pagan or the trench. No regular product exists. A genuine voyage involves a named vessel, permits, insurance and a clear plan for what happens if the weather turns.
- Looking at expedition cruises? Read the itinerary small print. Landings in the northern Marianas are always “conditions permitting”, and many voyages pass the islands without stopping.
- Permission comes first. Anyone organising a private voyage should contact the Northern Islands Mayor’s Office on Saipan well in advance, and check the monument rules for the three northernmost islands.
- For an ordinary holiday, put the time into Saipan’s north coast, Tinian or Rota instead — all three are remote enough for most tastes and can actually be reached.
